Boom Pirates Slot Review with Demo

Have you ever dreamed of becoming a pirate? How about using a lot of cannons to bombard islands just because it sounds like a good idea? Well, Boom Pirates slot machine offers you both. This is a video slot game developed by Foxium, which is an Estonia-based studio. You may remember it from other slots such as The Great Albini, Vampire The Masquerade – Las Vegas, and The Lost Riches of the Amazon. Foxium develops casino games for two platforms, Quickfire (Microgaming) and NYX Gaming. Boom Pirates is its latest slot release, exclusively developed for Microgaming.

And we are sure you know the name Microgaming: they invented the online gambling industry, after all. And no, we are not kidding. Microgaming launched the first online casino in the world, and it is literally the first company which developed online slot games, so yes, you should have heard about them. Quickfire is the name of its delivery platform which contains 600+ games, a poker network, sportsbook, live casino games, and a progressive jackpot network that has paid out more than €820 millions so far.

Boom Pirates is one of the latest video slots released on this platform, and it is already quite popular. This is not just because it is about pirates: free Boom Pirates slot machine has lots of unique features, such as 9 reels and up to 10,077,696 paylines. Yes, you read that right: we are talking about more than 10 million paylines here, according to the paytable of the game. As usually, you can play Boom Pirates for free on our website. But before that, let’s continue with this guide and learn more about the game, shall we?

The Theme, Graphics and the Exclusive Features of Boom Pirates Online Slot

Let’s talk about visual quality first before starting to explain the exclusive features. Boom Pirates is a good-looking game based on the pirates’ theme, as can be guessed from the name. The interface of the game consists of static 2D backgrounds and 3D reel animations. The reels are placed on a pirate island, and the pirates themselves swing from reel to reel pretty often. In short, the graphics quality is quite satisfying. So, how about the exclusive features?

We can say that the Boom Pirates free play version has two game modes. You start playing the game with 5 reels and 1,024 paylines. During the gameplay, if you activate the Wonderways feature, two things happen:

• The number of reels increases to 6;
• The number of paylines increases to 10,077,696.

If you hear someone shouting “booooom!”, this means you have triggered the Wonderways feature. So, how to activate this mode? It happens completely randomly and any time during the game. With that you can increase your chances, and how to do that we will explain below.

Symbols, Paytable and Bonus Rounds of the Game

The game has 10 symbols in total, and 5 of them (high-valued ones) are shown with theme-related pictures. The payout of these symbols changes between 60 and 2,500 coins. The rest of the symbols are shown with play card signs (10, K, Q, etc.), and their payout values change between 50 and 500 coins. There is also a scatter that has no payout value, but it is used to trigger bonus rounds. Boom Pirates slot has no wild symbol, however. There are four bonus features you can activate or buy (yes, you can buy):

• Buy Free Spins: in exchange for 100 x total stake, you can purchase 10 free spins anytime you want. Do not use this as a strategy: it is only for fun and does not increase your winning chances.
• Foxify: this feature increases the cost of the minimum bet amount by half. In other words, the cost of spins will be increased by 50%. In exchange, the chance to trigger the Wonderway feature will increase (we do not know how much it will increase). You cannot use/activate this feature during the free spins round. Well, this is a slot strategy we can suggest: increasing the number of reels & lines will increase your odds too.
• Mary’s Swashbuckling Attack: Mary is the name of a pirate, and she may decide to swing over your reels, literally. This is a random thing and can happen anytime. If this happens, any non-winning spins will turn into a five-of-a-kind winning combination. In other words, you will get paid as if you landed 5 symbols together.
• Free Spins: this round can be triggered by landing three scatter symbols anywhere on reels 1, 3, and 5. When this happens, you will win 10 free spins. There are two scatter symbols (YO and HO), and you can always win 5 extra free spins by landing three of them anywhere on reels during the round. So, 3 scatters are needed to win 10 spins, and 3 more scatters will give you additional 5 spins.

Game Interface

All of the buttons you will use are placed at the bottom. The section that says “balance” shows how much money left on your actual balance (the demo version comes with 2,000 coins). Foxify and Buy Free Spins buttons are located here too. To open the paytable, you can click the menu button at the far bottom left, and that’s it: the interface is simple and very easy to use.
